The original note introduced Base as an Ethereum L2 built with the OP Stack, reflecting its early architecture. That context is also recorded in Base’s launch announcement. It should not stand in for a current protocol-version description.
The note then compared Base with Arbitrum using a few screenshots and concluded that one was slower and more expensive. Without a matched workload, observation time, network conditions, and fee accounting, that is not a reproducible benchmark.
Compare a defined operation
For a useful comparison, specify the transaction, execution result, gas used, effective price, data-related charges, and observation time. Define whether speed means RPC response, sequencer inclusion, L1 publication, or the required finality. Those measurements answer different questions.
The old screenshots and unqualified ranking are omitted. This revision makes no current fee, throughput, decentralization, or latency claim for either network, and no transaction or benchmark was executed.
